Some images of the Asemic Cabinet in the Cobra Museum of Modern Art in Amstelveen (near Amsterdam) by Richard Niessen

Radicale Sociale Animale Talen is a large-scale exhibition from 27 May 2017 - 24 Sep 2017 at the Cobra Museum in Amstelveen, which loosely explores a number of themes that were relevant to the CoBrA movement. These themes continue to inspire today’s artists, since they have always maintained their artistic and social urgency.
In this exhibition I present 'The Asemic Cabinet', a new space in The Palace of Typographic Masonry, dedicated to asemic writing, a wordless open semantic form of writing. The word asemic means "having no specific semantic content", or "without the smallest unit of meaning". With the non-specificity of asemic writing there comes a vacuum of meaning which is left for the reader to fill in and interpret. 'The Asemic Cabinet' contains 35 works from the continuum between text and image.
